Momolitos: What the New Creature-Evolution Game Is and How It Plays
Momolitos is Goca Games' new creature-evolution adventure on Steam, Switch and iOS. Learn how feeding drives evolution, what MomoLAB does and what we still don't know.
Momolitos is a cozy creature-evolution adventure from solo studio Goca Games. It launches on October 22, 2026, for Steam, Nintendo Switch and iOS. You start with an egg, explore different areas to gather ingredients, and feed your creature. What it eats decides what it evolves into, and press coverage cites more than 500 to more than 600 possible forms.
It’s climbing Steam’s new-releases chart right now, so this guide sums up what’s confirmed so far, how the core loop works, and which details are still unclear as of October 2026.

How Momolitos plays
Start with an egg
Every Momolito starts as an egg. Once it hatches, raising it is up to you, and food is the main tool you have.
Explore and gather ingredients
You head out into different zones to collect ingredients. According to the coverage, you’ll get some by exploring and others through mini-games. After an outing, you come back and feed what you found to your creatures.
Food decides evolution
Here’s what sets Momolitos apart from many creature collectors: you shape evolution by what you feed, not by battling or grinding. Different ingredients open different evolutionary paths, so the same egg can become very different creatures depending on your choices. Pocket Gamer’s headline puts it simply: food decides what they become.
That’s also where the big form count comes from. Most of the variety comes from evolution branches, not separate species you catch in the wild. If you enjoy experimenting and filling out a collection, that’s the main draw.
MomoLAB, your home base
The MomoLAB is the hub. There you look after your creatures, record what you’ve discovered, and get ready for the next expedition. Think of it as your nest, your research notebook and your prep room all in one.
The demo was removed before launch
If you tried the Steam demo earlier and went back to find it gone, that’s intentional. Goca Games put a demo on Steam in December 2025. In its post New Trailer, October Release Window, and Demo Removal, the studio announced the demo would be taken down because it no longer accurately represented the final experience.
Our sources don’t say whether demo progress carries over to the full game. Unless Goca Games says otherwise on its site or Steam page, assume you’re starting fresh.
How to get Momolitos through official channels
Momolitos is a paid release on official storefronts, so there’s no reason to go looking elsewhere for it.
- Pick your platform: PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo eShop, or iPhone/iPad through the App Store.
- Search the store for “Momolitos” and make sure the developer is listed as Goca Games.
- Check the store page for the current price, any launch discount, supported languages and system requirements. We couldn’t confirm these, and they can differ between platforms.
- On Steam, you can wishlist or follow the game to get update notifications if you’re still deciding.
Stay away from sites that offer free or “unlocked” copies. They aren’t official, and they’re a common way to spread malware.
Who is Momolitos for?
The coverage suggests a good fit for players who:
- Like cozy, low-pressure games over competitive ones
- Enjoy collection goals and filling out a discovery log
- Like to experiment, trying different inputs to see what comes out
- Want a creature game they can play on PC, Switch or phone
If you mainly want deep turn-based battles or online trading, our sources say nothing about combat or multiplayer. Read the Steam page and early player reviews before you buy.
Which platform should you pick?
Since the loop is short (go out, gather, come back, feed), Momolitos sounds well suited to quick sessions on Switch or iOS. If you’d rather play on a big screen with mouse and keyboard, or want Steam’s reviews and community hub, the PC version makes sense. None of our sources confirm cross-platform saves or cross-buy, so pick the platform you expect to stay on and don’t count on moving your progress later.
Is it worth tracking?
Momolitos stands out for being a one-person project, for its food-driven evolution system, and for launching on three platforms at once. The promise of hundreds of forms is a big part of why it’s getting attention on Steam.
Several practical questions are still open as of October 2026: price, game length, save transfer between platforms, and how deep the endgame goes. Check the official Steam page and the Goca Games blog for patch notes and announcements. The studio has also been posting “Meet the Momolito” spotlights on individual creatures, which give a good feel for the art style before you buy.
Since this is a brand-new launch, expect details to change with day-one patches and updates. We’ll add hands-on impressions once there’s enough to judge.
