Loftia Early Access Guide: Price, Platforms, Multiplayer and More
Loftia is a cozy sky MMO from Qloud Games, now in Steam Early Access. Learn the price, Mac and Steam Deck support, how multiplayer works and what is unconfirmed.
Loftia is a cozy multiplayer life-sim MMO from indie studio Qloud Games, and it entered Early Access on Steam (and the Epic Games Store) on November 3, 2026. You get your own floating island to farm, craft and decorate, then team up with other players in shared “neighborhoods” and community projects. It costs $29.99 in the US, with a limited-time launch discount bringing it to $24.89.
That is the short version. Below is what is confirmed, what is still uncertain, and what to check before you buy. Details are accurate as of November 4, 2026, and Early Access games change quickly.
What kind of game is Loftia?
Loftia sits somewhere between Animal Crossing-style life sims and a light, non-combat MMO. According to the official FAQ and the launch press release, the core loop is:
- Your own sky island. Each player gets a floating island to customize.
- Life-sim activities. Farming, crafting, decorating and exploring.
- Shared spaces. You connect with other players to form neighborhoods and work on community projects together.
- A relaxed pace. The game is built around socializing and cooperation rather than competition.
The setting is often described as solarpunk: a bright, nature-focused world rather than the fantasy-battle tone of most MMOs. The project was crowdfunded on Kickstarter before this launch, and it built a lot of momentum through its free demo. Games.gg reports that close to 150,000 players tried the demo during October’s Steam Next Fest.
Price, editions and monetization
Pricing is one of the clearest parts of the launch, because the developer spelled it out in its FAQ.
| Item | Details (as of November 2026) |
|---|---|
| Base price (US) | $29.99, with regional pricing in other countries |
| Launch price | $24.89 (17% off, limited time) |
| Business model | Buy-to-play, not free-to-play |
| Microtransactions | Cosmetic only: optional in-game shop and a season pass |
| Stores | Steam and Epic Games Store |
Two caveats are worth knowing:
- The discount is time-limited. None of the sources I found gives an end date, so check the store page if the sale price matters to you.
- The price may rise later. Games.gg reports the developers have said Early Access should last roughly a year and that the price might go up closer to the 1.0 release. Treat both as plans, not promises.
The FAQ is clear that all gameplay comes with the base game and the paid extras are cosmetic. That is the developer’s stated policy for now. Any change would most likely be announced on the official site or in Steam news posts.
Platforms and hardware
Loftia’s Early Access version is on PC and Mac. Here is what is confirmed and what is not.
Windows PC
Windows is the main platform. Sites that copy the system requirements disagree on the details, with different minimum GPUs, RAM (6 GB vs 8 GB) and storage figures. I am not repeating those numbers here. The only reliable source is the “System Requirements” section on the Steam store page. Requirements can change during Early Access as optimization continues.
Mac
Mac is supported, but only on Apple silicon. The press release and the Steam listing both say Intel Macs are not supported. If you are on an older Intel MacBook or iMac, do not buy expecting it to run.
Steam Deck and controllers
The official FAQ announced Steam Deck support for Early Access, and controllers are supported. Keep in mind that “supported by the developer” is not the same as Valve’s “Verified” badge. The FAQ does not list tested frame rates or recommended Deck settings, so check the compatibility rating on the Steam page before you buy.
Nintendo Switch
A Switch version has been talked about, and Games.gg reports it for 2027. Other coverage calls 2027 a goal rather than a confirmed date, and no Switch 2 version has been announced. Treat console plans as unconfirmed for now.
Cross-play
This is the biggest open question. The official FAQ describes cross-platform play as something the team is investigating and testing, not a guaranteed feature. Each platform needs its own purchase. If you want to play with a friend, the safest choice right now is for both of you to buy on the same platform.
How multiplayer and solo play work
Loftia is an MMO, but it does not force you into groups.
- Solo is fine. The FAQ says you can progress at your own pace without having to play with other people.
- It is always online. Playing alone does not give you an offline mode. You still need an internet connection.
- Servers. Players on the same server can play together, and you are not locked to a single server. If a friend is on a different one, you can move to theirs.
- Neighborhoods. This is the main social feature. Players link their islands into neighborhoods and work together on shared projects.
Playing with friends: quick steps
- Make sure everyone owns the game on the same platform, since cross-play is not confirmed.
- Agree on a server before you start, or move to the server your friends already use.
- Once you are in the same world, form or join a neighborhood to share community projects.
Menus and server options can change during Early Access. If a step doesn’t match what you see, check the official FAQ or the developer’s latest Steam announcements.
Did the demo progress carry over?
If you played the Steam Next Fest demo, Games.gg reports that your progress and character name carry over into Early Access. I did not find this confirmed in every source, so if your save is missing, check the official channels before starting fresh.
Early reception
The launch is barely a day old, so impressions are still forming.
- Critics: Sportskeeda’s Early Access review gave it 8/10 and praised the relaxing gameplay, wide customization options and multiplayer side. It also noted that the long-term outcome is still uncertain, which is fair for any Early Access game. GameTyrant was also positive and recommended it to fans of community-driven cozy MMOs.
- Players: Steam community posts are more mixed. Some players find the opening slow and the early story unremarkable. Others reported launch-day issues such as an unexpected login prompt and possible quest bugs. Launch-week problems like these are common for online games and often get patched quickly, but that is not guaranteed.
I could not find a reliable overall Steam review score yet. It will settle over the coming days.
Should you buy Loftia now?
It depends on what you want from a cozy game.
It is a good fit if you enjoy relaxed life sims, like playing alongside other people without combat or pressure, and are comfortable with Early Access, meaning unfinished features, balance changes and occasional bugs.
You may want to wait if you need guaranteed cross-play, own an Intel Mac, want a polished and complete 1.0 game, or mainly play offline.
A sensible approach is to check the current Steam review trend and Deck rating, and to read the developer’s latest patch notes first. You can also wait for more launch-week fixes. If the launch discount ends before you decide, keep in mind that the developer has hinted the price could rise closer to 1.0.
Where to get reliable updates
For anything that changes during Early Access, such as roadmap, cross-play, Switch timing or price, use official channels: the official FAQ, the game’s Steam news feed and the developer’s own blog. Coverage from outlets like Massively Overpowered and Gamereactor is useful for context. Many fan-made “Loftia wiki” sites that showed up in my research copy each other and sometimes disagree, so double-check anything important against the developer’s own pages.
