How to Find Map Fragments in Fortnite Treasure Hunters (2026)
Where to find Fortnite's Treasure Hunters map fragments, how the weekly unlocks work, the first fragment on The $.$. Rocky, and the loading screen reward.
To find map fragments in Fortnite, play Battle Royale during the Treasure Hunters mini-season and follow the weekly “Collect Map Fragment” quests: each week one new fragment appears at a fixed spot on Crossbones Isle, starting with one on the lowest deck of A$AP Rocky’s battleship, The $.$. Rocky. Walk up to it, hold the interact button next to “Gather the map fragment,” and collect the full set to unlock a free loading screen.
The rest of this guide covers how the weekly schedule works, a step-by-step route to the first fragment, and what is still unconfirmed as of November 3, 2026.
What map fragments are in Fortnite right now
Map fragments are a quest collectible in the Treasure Hunters mini-season, which launched in Battle Royale on November 1, 2026. Epic’s official season announcement describes a pirate- and One Piece-themed season on a new island, Crossbones Isle, where a new captain arrives each week with their own crew and point of interest: the Straw Hats and A$AP Rocky first, followed by Lil Uzi Vert, Cap’n Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto.
The map fragment quests follow that weekly rhythm. According to Destructoid’s fragment tracker, only one fragment becomes available each week the season is live, with unlocks running from November 1 to December 5.
If you searched this and actually meant an older event (Chapter 3 gem fragments or the Fortnitemares cube fragments) or Elden Ring’s map fragments, those are different systems and this guide does not apply to them.
How many fragments there are and what you get
| Detail | What sources report |
|---|---|
| Number of fragments | Six in most guides; one outlet says seven |
| Release pace | One per week |
| First fragment | The $.$. Rocky, lowest deck toward the bow |
| XP per fragment quest | 10,000 XP for the first one |
| Set reward | X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen |
The count is not fully settled. Destructoid, theclick.gg and a widely shared Fortnite community post all say six fragments, and six is the number tied to the loading screen. A Yahoo-syndicated guide says seven. Your in-game quest tracker is the authority here, so check it before planning around either number.
The reward is the X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen, granted automatically once you have gathered all six fragments, per theclick.gg. Don’t confuse it with “The Treasure Hunt Begins,” a separate loading screen on the Captain X weekly quest track.
How to find the first map fragment on The $.$. Rocky
The first fragment is the only one with a confirmed location so far. The $.$. Rocky is A$AP Rocky’s battleship POI, docked on Crossbones Isle.
- Open your Quests tab before the match and find the Treasure Hunters weekly quests. Look for “Collect Map Fragment at The $.$. Rocky.” Tracking it should put a quest marker on your map.
- Drop onto The $.$. Rocky. Aim for the front (bow) of the ship, where an entrance leads below deck.
- Head down to the lowest deck. Shacknews places the fragment on the bottom deck toward the bow. Destructoid’s location guide describes it as sitting in a room on the lower levels of the ship.
- Look for the quest marker. Guides describe an on-screen marker (an exclamation point inside a diamond) once you’re close. Some guides describe the fragment as being near a crate in that room.
- Hold the interact button on the prompt that says “Gather the map fragment.” The quest completes when the pickup finishes.
If the stairs are hard to reach because of fighting or building, guides note you can break through the ship’s exterior walls to get down to the lower deck faster.
Tips for a smooth pickup
- Expect company. A$AP Rocky is the season’s first boss, and the ship is a named POI in week one, so plenty of players land there. The same week’s quests also ask you to damage A$AP Rocky with two different weapons, which pulls even more people to the ship.
- Land, grab, then loot. The fragment counts the moment you collect it. You don’t need to survive or win afterwards.
- Use a squad. In Duos or Squads, one player can hold the stairs while another collects. Check your quest log afterwards to confirm it counted for you.
Where the other map fragments are
As of November 3, 2026, only the first fragment’s location is confirmed. Destructoid’s table lists fragments two through four as TBA, with no locations yet for five and six. These quests haven’t unlocked yet, so any “full locations” list you find right now is guesswork.
Be careful with early round-ups. At least one widely shared article lists fragment spots at places such as Shimmering Shores and Fractured Forest, which don’t match the Treasure Hunters island. When a new fragment unlocks, compare a guide against your own map and quest marker before you commit to a drop.
A reasonable expectation, given the weekly captain structure in Epic’s announcement, is that later fragments may sit near each new captain’s POI. That is an inference, not something Epic has confirmed.
How to find a new fragment the week it unlocks
- Check the Quests tab after each weekly update. A new “Collect Map Fragment at…” quest should appear and name the location.
- Track the quest so its marker shows on your map and compass.
- Drop at the named POI and follow the marker. Fragments are fixed pickups, not random spawns, so the spot shouldn’t change between matches.
- Hold interact on “Gather the map fragment” and check that your quest progress went up.
When the map fragment quests end
Destructoid lists the final unlock as December 5, and Epic’s news post describes a season of weekly captain arrivals. A community post tracking free rewards says the loading screen is available until Friday, December 4. Other outlets disagree about when the next season starts, with The Big Lead suggesting December 1. Because of that conflict, don’t leave the last fragment until the final days. Check the end date shown on the quest in-game.

Frequently asked questions
How many map fragments are there in Fortnite Treasure Hunters? +
Most guides, including Destructoid, list six fragments, and six is the number tied to the loading screen reward. At least one outlet has said seven, so check the quest tracker in your own game for the definitive count.
Can I collect all the map fragments at once? +
No. Guides agree the fragments unlock one per week while the mini-season is live, so the full set takes several weeks. Plan to grab each one soon after it unlocks rather than saving them all for the last week.
What do I get for collecting the map fragments? +
Each fragment quest awards XP (the first one gives 10,000 XP), and collecting the full set unlocks the X Marks the Zero Point Sliver loading screen. The reward is granted automatically once the last fragment is gathered.
Do I need to win the match after picking up a fragment? +
No. The quest progresses as soon as you hold the interact button on the fragment and the pickup completes, so you can collect it and keep playing or leave the match.
