GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, set in the fictional state of Leonida with Vice City at its heart and two leads, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. The date: November 19, 2026
The launch date has moved twice. Rockstar originally targeted fall 2025, then moved the game to May 26, 2026, and in November 2025 pushed it again to November 19, 2026. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick reaffirmed that date in the company’s May 2026 earnings report, as TechRadar reported. Coverage of Rockstar’s October launch trailer repeats the November 19 date.
Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only (for now)
GTA 6 is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PS4 or Xbox One version. As of November 2026, Rockstar has not announced a PC version or PC release date.
Price, editions and pre-orders
Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, as announced on the Rockstar Newswire, through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store and retailers.

Pre-order bonus
- Vintage Vice City Pack: reported to include a classic Vapid Stanier car, a garage, retro outfits for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern. Outlets give slightly different names for the garage.
- One month of GTA+: reported for digital purchases, though at least one outlet says Xbox players are not included. GTA+ is a subscription, so check whether it renews automatically and cancel it if you don’t want it.

Physical copies
Multiple outlets report that the boxed edition contains a download code rather than a disc. If you buy physical, plan for the full download just like digital buyers.

- Preload date: earlier reports said November 12, 2026. More recent coverage, including a Forbes preload guide and later reports, points to November 10.
- Download size: figures of up to roughly 212 GB have been reported, but at least one outlet notes Rockstar had not published an official size.
- What to do: free up well over 200 GB on your console’s internal or supported external storage ahead of time, then check your console store listing for the exact preload time in your region.
If you’re short on space, deleting old games or adding storage your console maker officially supports is the cleanest fix.
Story and characters
Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval
GTA 6 has two protagonists. Rockstar’s official profiles, covered by GamesRadar+, give their full names as Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval.
- Lucia’s story picks up around her release from prison, and Trailer 2 hints at a fighting background.
- Jason is shown working for a boss named Brian, collecting payments around town.
- The trailers frame them as a couple pulled into a crime spree after a job goes wrong. Rockstar’s own description leaves their relationship deliberately uncertain.
Voice actors have not been officially credited by Rockstar as of this writing, so names circulating online are speculation.
Setting: Leonida and Vice City
The game takes place in Leonida, Rockstar’s take on Florida. Vice City, its version of Miami, returns as the main city. Alongside Trailer 2 in May 2025, Rockstar highlighted six major areas, as Game Informer reported:

Trailer 2: May 2025
Trailer 2 landed in May 2025, shortly after the delay to 2026. Rockstar said it was captured in-game on a PlayStation 5 and was a mix of gameplay and cutscenes.
Launch trailer: October 15, 2026
Rockstar released the official launch trailer on October 15, 2026, about five weeks before release. It debuted “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, the French electronic duo composing the game’s original score. Kotaku also covered it, and it drew some debate among fans about how soft the footage looked.
What’s still unconfirmed

- PC release: not announced.
- Exact preload date and file size: reported numbers conflict (see above).
