Bodycam Game Guide: What It Is, PC Specs and the Zombies Update
What Bodycam on Steam is, what Locked & Loaded changed, when the v0.9 zombies update is due, the PC specs you need, and how to avoid lookalike games.
Bodycam is an ultra-realistic multiplayer first-person shooter from French indie developer Reissad Studio. It is built in Unreal Engine 5 and shot to look like real body-camera footage, and it is only sold through Steam Early Access. It is climbing the Steam bestseller charts again because zombies return with the v0.9 “The Dead & Damned” update, which the studio has scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2026.
Below you’ll find what the game actually is, what changed in 2026, the hardware it needs, and one mix-up worth avoiding before you pay for anything.
What Bodycam is (and what it is not)
Bodycam is a competitive multiplayer shooter. Its main selling point is the camera. The game copies the look of a chest-mounted camera, with lens distortion, motion blur and jerky movement, so matches look like real recordings. Reissad Studio is both the developer and the publisher, and the game entered Early Access on Steam on June 7, 2024.
Early Access matters here. The game is unfinished, and the studio openly reworks big systems between updates. Reactions at launch were mixed. German outlet Mein-MMO summed up the criticism as “like a tech demo that costs €30,” while other players praised how real it looks. Prices vary by region and sale, so check the Steam page for the current price.
Watch out for lookalike games
Searching “bodycam” turns up several games with similar names. The most confusing one is BODYCAM 2026, which is sold on the Xbox Store and the Epic Games Store. French site Xboxygen warns that it is not the Reissad Studio game, and that the real Bodycam is only available on Steam. Store pages also list games such as Recorded Bodycam and Body Cam Shooter, which are separate products too.
| Title | Where it’s sold | Same game as Reissad’s Bodycam? |
|---|---|---|
| Bodycam (Reissad Studio) | Steam (PC), Early Access | Yes |
| BODYCAM 2026 | Xbox Store, Epic Games Store | No |
| Recorded Bodycam, Body Cam Shooter and similar | Various stores | No |
If you want the game that is trending on Steam, buy it from its official Steam store page (app ID 2406770) and nowhere else.
What changed in 2026: Locked & Loaded (v0.8)
The biggest update so far, v0.8 “Locked & Loaded”, launched on September 2, 2026. Some press materials are dated September 3, which comes down to time zones. Reissad Studio’s press release calls it the most expansive gameplay overhaul and content update in the game’s history. Existing owners got it for free.
Here is what coverage reported:
- New map: Trenches, which Gamepressure describes as the largest map in the game so far.
- Drones and RC vehicles: controllable FPV drones, including explosive ones, plus small remote-controlled ground vehicles.
- Weapon customization and a shooting range.
- Tech work: PC Games Hardware reports major engine and technical changes, including DLSS 4.5 support, along with networking, performance and UI fixes.
- No real-money purchases: the studio said the update would not add any.
Some features also went away. The Zombies mode was disabled, and two maps were missing after the update. The update did bring players back, though: Insider Gaming reported a new all-time peak player count shortly after release.
The Dead & Damned (v0.9): zombies return on November 13
In a post shared through PatchBot, Reissad Studio set v0.9, “The Dead & Damned”, for Friday, November 13, 2026, saying Friday the 13th “felt like the right day to bring the zombies back.” Here is what’s reported so far:
- Zombies returns as a mode.
- A new Zombie Trenches map, plus the Village and Asylum maps coming back for Zombies.
- According to jeu.video, Zombies supports up to four players in co-op through Quick Play and the server browser. To play with a larger group of up to ten friends, you have to host your own match.
Earlier reports from ExitLag expected zombies back for Halloween. The November 13 date is newer and comes straight from the studio, so go with that. Still, early-access dates can slip, so treat everything here as accurate as of November 7, 2026, and check the Steam news hub on release day.
Bodycam PC requirements
Bodycam is one of the more demanding shooters on Steam. The minimum specs below match across several requirement trackers, including System Requirements Lab. The official Steam page is the final word, and big engine updates like Locked & Loaded can change these figures.
| Component | Minimum (as listed) |
|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10/11, 64-bit |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-9700K |
| RAM | 8 GB |
| GPU | AMD Radeon RX 5700 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB VRAM) |
| Storage | 50 GB (SSD recommended) |
| Network | Broadband internet connection |
We couldn’t find a verified “recommended” spec for this game. Some sites list higher figures, but those belong to Recorded Bodycam, a different game, so ignore them.
What this means for your hardware
- The graphics card matters most. The listed minimum is an 8 GB card from the RTX 2070 or RX 5700 class. Cards with less VRAM are below the listed spec.
- Use an SSD. Unreal Engine 5 games stream a lot of data, and the requirements specifically recommend solid-state storage.
- Use upscaling if you have it. With DLSS 4.5 support added in v0.8, NVIDIA RTX owners have an extra way to raise frame rates. Check the in-game settings after each update, because options can change.
How to get started
- Open the official Bodycam Steam page and check that the developer is listed as Reissad Studio.
- Compare your PC against the system requirements on that page. If you’re close to the minimum, check the price against Steam’s refund policy before you buy.
- Install the game on an SSD. You need at least 50 GB free.
- Before November 13, read the patch notes in the game’s Steam news section so you know which modes and maps are live.
- Once v0.9 is out, try Zombies through Quick Play for four-player co-op, or host a private match for a bigger group.
Should you jump in now?
If you like slow, tense shooters and your PC meets the specs, the zombies update is a good time to start. Expect the rough edges of Early Access, though. Modes come and go between updates, and early reviews called it closer to a tech demo than a finished game. If you’re not sure, wait until The Dead & Damned is out and check recent Steam reviews to see how the update landed.
