The Wolf Among Us Remastered: Price, Discounts, What's New
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is out now. Learn the price, how the launch and owner discounts work, what's new, and how your choices carry into Season 2.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered launched on October 29, 2026 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox, with a list price of $24.99 and a launch promotion that runs until November 12. It’s Telltale’s 2013 Fables noir mystery rebuilt with updated visuals, plus an optional black-and-white Noir Mode and five restored deleted scenes, and it’s now in Steam’s top sellers.
Below you’ll find what’s actually in the package, how the two launch discounts work (they don’t stack), what reviewers think, and what to know about carrying your choices into The Wolf Among Us 2. Everything here is accurate as of October 30, 2026. Prices and promotions in particular can change, so check your platform’s store before buying.
What The Wolf Among Us Remastered includes
The remaster covers the full original season: the same five episodes, with the same choices and outcomes, as GamingTrend’s review puts it. You still play as Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, investigating a murder in 1980s New York. The story hasn’t been rewritten.
What has changed:
- Rebuilt presentation. Reviewers broadly credit the visual upgrade, and character models and facial animation show the biggest gains. Press coverage of the release date announcement also mentions higher-resolution textures and modernized lighting.
- Noir Mode. An optional black-and-white presentation you can switch on and off. Reviewers are split on it: some love it, others find it a gimmick.
- Five playable deleted scenes. These are cut moments restored as content you can play, not just watch. According to AllThings. How, one is an alternate Anderson Street encounter with a police officer. Other coverage points to a segment from the final episode, Cry Wolf.
- Choice carryover to the sequel. According to MonsterVine, the Telltale and PM Studios launch announcement confirmed that major choices from the remaster can carry into The Wolf Among Us 2.
Platforms
| Platform | Status as of Oct 30, 2026 |
|---|---|
| PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) | Out now |
| PlayStation 5 | Out now |
| Xbox | Out now (see note below) |
| Nintendo Switch | Coming later, no date announced |
Sources describe the Xbox versions differently. Gematsu’s coverage lists Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Some launch coverage says the game is an Xbox One release that runs on Series X|S through backward compatibility. Either way, Series X|S owners can play it. If native Series X|S optimization matters to you, check the Xbox Store listing before you buy.
The original June announcement also mentioned Switch and Switch 2. Telltale has only said that the Switch version comes later and that discount details for it will follow.
Price and launch discounts explained
The standard price is $24.99. Until November 12, 2026, there are two separate offers, and you get one or the other, not both. Telltale’s launch discount page says the promotion runs October 29 to November 12, starting and ending at 6 AM PT.
| Offer | Who it’s for | Discount | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Launch discount | New players | 20% off | $19.99 on Steam; on PlayStation it’s limited to PS Plus members |
| Owner discount | Owners of the digital original | Up to 50% off | Same platform and same account required; physical copies don’t count |
The two offers can’t be combined. If you qualify for the owner discount, that’s the better deal.
How to get the owner discount
- Check which store and account you used to buy the original The Wolf Among Us. On PC, Steam and Epic count as different platforms.
- Sign in to that same account on that same platform’s store.
- Open the Remastered store page. On Steam, the reduced price appears automatically if your account owns the original, according to Telltale’s discount details and Prima Games.
- Buy before 6 AM PT on November 12, 2026.
If you own the original only on disc, you can’t use the owner discount, because physical ownership can’t be verified. The 20% launch discount is your best option. One more catch: launch coverage reports that on PlayStation, the owner discount doesn’t apply to players without PS Plus. Check the PlayStation Store listing to see what your account is offered.
What reviewers are saying
Reception is strong. As of this writing, OpenCritic shows an 84 average from 13 critics, and 100% of them recommend it. Metacritic lists the PS5 version at 85. Scores can shift as more reviews come in.
The common thread in reviews:
- Praise: The story and characters still hold up, the visual and performance upgrade over the original is clear, and it’s an easy recommendation for newcomers ahead of the sequel.
- Criticism: Telltale’s stiff animations haven’t completely gone away, the extras are fairly light, and Noir Mode divides people. If you’ve played the original recently, the deleted scenes and the visuals are the only new reasons to return.
Is it worth buying?
- Never played it: Yes, especially at $19.99 during the launch window. This is now the best-looking way to play the story.
- Own it digitally: The owner discount makes it a reasonable buy if you plan to play The Wolf Among Us 2 and want your choices to carry over.
- Played it recently, no sequel plans: The new content is modest, so there’s no rush. Wait for a later sale.
The Wolf Among Us 2 and choice carryover
The Wolf Among Us 2 is planned for 2027, according to Stevivor and other coverage. As of October 30, 2026, there’s no exact release date.
The remaster is meant to be the bridge to the sequel: launch announcements say major choices you make in it can carry forward. Some launch coverage mentions signing in to a Telltale Account to link your progress. Telltale hasn’t yet published full details of how the import will work when the sequel launches, including whether it works across platforms. To keep your options open:
- Play the remaster on the platform where you expect to play the sequel.
- If the game asks you to link a Telltale Account, use one you’ll still have access to in 2027.
- Keep an eye on official Telltale announcements before the sequel releases, since the import process may be clarified or changed.
PC notes
There’s no Steam Deck rating or PC system requirements in the sources used for this guide. Check the Requirements section and the Steam Deck compatibility badge on the Steam store page before buying for handheld or older hardware. A free demo was offered on Steam during October’s Steam Next Fest, but that event ended on October 26, so don’t count on the demo still being available.
