How to Beat Paladius in Palworld: Location, Counters and Tactics
How to beat Paladius in Palworld 1.0: where the Level 60 alpha spawns with Necromus, which Dark and Dragon Pals counter them, and how to split up the fight.
To beat Paladius in Palworld, go in at night with a strong Dark-element Pal (Paladius is Neutral-type and weak to Dark) plus a Dragon-element Pal for its partner Necromus, and use the night-time window to take out Necromus while Paladius sleeps. Bring your best armor, plenty of ammo, healing, and Legendary Spheres if you want to catch either one rather than just defeat it.
That is the short version. Below is where to find the pair, how the 1.0 version of the fight differs from older guides, and a step-by-step plan.
What you are up against
Paladius is a Legendary Pal that never shows up alone. It shares a single spawn point with Necromus, and many players consider this duo one of the toughest encounters in the game. According to TheGamer, Paladius tends to hang back and fire beam and ice attacks from range, while Necromus closes the gap and charges at you. Handling both at once is what makes the fight hard, not either Pal on its own.
Level: 50 or 60?
You will see two different levels online. Early Access guides list Paladius and Necromus at Level 50. Guides updated for Palworld 1.0, which left Early Access on July 10, 2026, list the alpha at Level 60, including KeenGamer’s 1.0 legendary roundup. If a guide says Level 50, assume it was written before 1.0 and adjust your preparation upward.
Types and weaknesses
| Boss | Element | Weak to | Counter Pals named in guides |
|---|---|---|---|
| Paladius | Neutral | Dark | Shadowbeak, a captured Necromus, Astegon |
| Necromus | Dark | Dragon | Jetragon, Quivern, Chillet, Astegon |
Astegon is worth calling out: as a Dark and Dragon Pal, it hits both bosses for super-effective damage, a point made in several legendary-Pal roundups including Sportskeeda’s Necromus page. If you already have a good one, it simplifies the party question a lot.
Where to find Paladius
Paladius and Necromus spawn together in the far north of the Desiccated Desert, on the northeastern side of the map. KeenGamer places the spawn northwest of the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point, which is the easiest place to start your trip from.
Coordinates differ slightly between sites:
- Game8 and palworld.tools list 446, 681.
- Other databases give nearby values such as 445, 680 or 440, 679.
These all point to the same small area, so head for roughly 446, 681 and look around. One database site lists a different spawn entirely, at a Wildlife Sanctuary, but that conflicts with every other source we checked. Treat the desert location as the one to use as of November 2026.
Respawn time is listed as about one hour of real time by both Game8 and palworld.tools, so a failed attempt is not the end of the world.
How to prepare
Preparation matters more here than in most boss fights. Before you travel:
- Get your level up. You are facing two Level 60 Legendaries in 1.0. Going in well under that is asking for a quick wipe.
- Upgrade armor and weapons. Every guide we checked stresses bringing your best gear. Ranged weapons are especially useful because Paladius likes to stay at a distance.
- Stock up on ammo and healing. One player on the official Steam forums reported winning with a Frostallion and a large supply of ammo. It is anecdotal, but it matches the general advice that this is a fight of attrition.
- Pick your Pals. Put a strong Dark Pal and a strong Dragon Pal in your party, or one Astegon to cover both. Jetragon (Dragon) and Shadowbeak (Dark) are the two names that come up most often.
- Bring Legendary Spheres if you plan to catch. Game8 recommends Legendary Spheres because Legendary Pals have low catch rates at these levels. Lower-tier spheres are generally a waste of time here.
Step-by-step: beating the duo
1. Arrive at night
This is the single most useful trick. Per Game8’s Necromus guide, Necromus is nocturnal and stays awake at night, while Paladius sleeps. If you start the fight at night, you can engage Necromus while Paladius is out of action instead of being caught between a ranged attacker and a charging melee attacker.
2. Take out Necromus first
Lead with your Dragon Pal. Necromus is Dark-type, so Dragon attacks are super effective. Keep moving, because it charges repeatedly. If you want to catch it, wear it down and throw Legendary Spheres once its health is low.
Catching Necromus has a bonus: several guides and players recommend using it against Paladius, since its Dark attacks are exactly what Paladius is weak to.
3. Switch to your Dark Pal for Paladius
Once Necromus is dealt with, swap to your Dark Pal (or the Necromus you just caught) and turn to Paladius. Paladius favors ranged beam and ice attacks, so:
- Stay mobile and avoid standing still in the open.
- Use your own ranged weapons to add damage while your Pal fights.
- Watch your Pal’s health and swap or heal before it faints.
4. Catch or finish it
If you are catching, bring its health down carefully and throw Legendary Spheres. If not, finish the fight and collect the drops. Database sites list Hexolite, Diamond and Large Pal Soul as Paladius drops, though drop tables can change with patches.
If you keep losing
- You get swarmed by both at once. Leave, wait for night, and come back. The sleep window is the cleanest way to split them.
- Your Pal keeps fainting. Your counter Pal is likely underleveled, or not the right element. A Neutral or Ice Pal will struggle far more than a Dark one against Paladius.
- You run out of resources. Fast travel back to Deep Sand Dunes, restock, and retry. With roughly a one-hour respawn, there is no penalty for regrouping.
Is Paladius worth catching?
Several guides say Paladius cannot be bred, so catching the alpha is the main way to get one, though breeding information varies between sites. Its partner skill, Holy Knight of the Firmament, lets you ride it and triple jump while mounted, which makes it a handy mount for getting around. Exact partner skill numbers vary between database sites, so check the in-game description once you have it.
Keep in mind that Pocketpair is still patching Palworld after the 1.0 launch. Levels, spawn points and drops in this guide reflect what current sources report as of November 2026 and may shift in future updates.

Frequently asked questions
What is Paladius weak to in Palworld? +
Paladius is a Neutral-type Pal, so Dark-element attacks deal bonus damage to it. Its partner Necromus is Dark-type and weak to Dragon, which is why guides recommend bringing one strong Dark Pal and one strong Dragon Pal.
Do I have to fight Paladius and Necromus at the same time? +
They share one spawn point, so they will both be there when you arrive. Game8 notes that Paladius sleeps at night while the nocturnal Necromus stays awake, so starting the fight at night lets you deal with Necromus first, mostly on its own.
What level is Paladius in Palworld 1.0? +
Current 1.0 guides list the Paladius alpha at Level 60. Older Early Access guides list it at Level 50, so if you see that number, the guide likely predates the July 2026 full release.
How long does Paladius take to respawn? +
Game8 and palworld.tools both list a respawn time of about one hour of real time after you defeat or catch it. That makes it practical to retry if a capture attempt fails.
What does Paladius drop? +
Database sites list Hexolite, Diamond and Large Pal Soul as Paladius drops. Drop tables can be adjusted in patches, so check in-game after the fight if a specific item matters to you.
